Vectra Cognito Platform and Chief Technology Officer Oliver Tavakoli Named Winners in the 2019 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards
Portfolio company Vectra, the leader in network cyberattack detection and response, has been named a winner in the “Limited Memory” category of the 2019 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards. These awards aim to recognize revolutionary organizations, products and people who are solving real problems through the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI).
Business Intelligence Group’s Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards program recognized both Oliver Tavakoli, chief technology officer at Vectra, and the Vectra Cognito network detection and response platform as winners in the “Limited Memory” category. The “Limited Memory” category refers to AI that depends on limited memory that can be pre-programmed and observed.
Oliver Tavakoli was honored for his leadership role at Vectra. Tavakoli drives strategy for the company’s products by working closely with the security research and data science teams at Vectra. With more than 30 years of experience as a technologist, Tavakoli makes strategic decisions for Vectra with a forward-thinking, technological focus as well as setting the overarching, long-term goals of the company.
“Vectra has set the standard for innovation in the application of AI to detect hidden and unknown cyberattackers in large and complex networks,” said Oliver Tavakoli, chief technology officer at Vectra. “The AI embedded in our Cognito platform reduces the time to detect threats and the workload to triage and prioritize them.”
The Cognito platform is the industry-leading cybersecurity AI platform from Vectra that provides full visibility into cyberattacker behaviors from cloud and data center workloads to user and IoT devices, leaving attackers with nowhere to hide. Vectra offers three applications on the platform: Cognito Stream, Cognito Recall and Cognito Detect. Cognito® Stream™ delivers enterprise-scale network metadata enriched with security insights to empower threat hunters and incident investigators. Cognito Detect and its AI counterpart, Cognito Recall, are cornerstones of the Cognito platform. Cognito Detect automates the real-time detection of hidden attackers while giving Cognito Recall a logical starting point to respond by using AI-assisted threat hunting and conducting conclusive incident investigations.
“We are so proud to name both Oliver Tavakoli, chief technology officer at Vectra and the Vectra Cognito platform as finalists in our inaugural Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards program,” said Maria Jimenez, chief nominations officer for Business Intelligence Group. “It was clear to our judges that Vectra is using AI to improve the lives of their customers and employees and wanted to make sure the world knew of their accomplishments. Congratulations!”
